It was pretty cool riding in full team Canada garb! I truly couldn't have done it without a full set of Louis Garneau kit which I received as a present for being the Master of Ceremonies at my friends wedding. . . both him and his wife ride for the Canadian National team so they managed to steal a set of the 'team only' kit for me (don't tell any Canadians . . . )

If you have read our previous reviews you will see that we have a certain bias for Louis Garneau stuff. However some of the products have recently started to fall short of our expectations for comfort.
History
We recently reviewed the Louis Garneau CFS-150 shoes. While they were white (we love white shoes), we had some issues with the sole losing lamination when we we 'heat molded' them. Not a great sign, but we can report back that the shoes have remained intact, however we are now having issues with the ratchet-buckle . . .

Reality
Team Canada or bust - cool graphics really stood out
We left the house early after a strong espresso to ride out to a local race; we had to meet some friends about 15km's from home with the plan of riding out to the race together. Generally, it's a good sign if we don't notice the shorts and this was certainly the case with these shorts early on. They are well designed with a high number of panels (8) and stayed in place easily. Certainly we were provided with a seamless fit with no raised bunching or extra material to cause discomfort. The 'bib' section of the knicks are well vented and built from a light material that allowed good airflow. Looks
The high tech multi-density chamois pad had us excited
Let me re-iterate that cycling knicks are a personal preference so you may have totally different results, but we were surprised at our discomfort nearing the end of the race. We were about 90km's through the days riding and we were so sore we needed to stand on the pedals. It literally felt like we were sitting on sandpaper and we had another 70 kilometers to ride!
As the ride went on it got worse and the day after we had a rough time sitting on the bike. Not a great result.
The bottom line
Louis Garneau has been manufacturing garments for a long time and we have tremendous respect for the company. From humble beginnings to the large scale international business they are today they have changed cycling for the better. Their clothing is typically well constructed with a close eye on quality. We aren't sure if it was the tiny raised bumps on these knicks or the type of materials used in the pad, regardless it didn't suit our butts. We had high expectations for this product but it wasn't one we could recommend . . .
