Riders were all bundled up in wet-weather gear but that was not enough as after one hour of racing, many riders were seen coming back to the convoy for more jackets and even stopping to put them on.

Particularly KTM’s Gregor Gazvoda who was sitting in 2nd overall on GC – he had the misfortune of a puncture and after the wheel change he was sped back up to the bunch with the help of his team-mate. However just as he was making contact, there was a crash in the back end of the peloton that caused team cars to fill the width of the road. Gazvoda had nowhere to go and never recovered to make the first split. As a result he slips to 10th overall. However due to some hard chasing by the Armore & Vita Team with the help of the Russian National Team, they were able to bring back Tobias with 500m remaining. It was game on for the two big sprinters teams to set up their lead-out machines and it was hard fast man in Yuriy Metlushenko (Amore & Vita) taking out the up-hill drag over Boris Shpilevskiy (Russian National Team). Ruslan Tleubayev (Kazakhstan National Team) finished 3rd.
