The rain-soaked 72km circuit race in Huzhu County, Qinghai could have been a slippery dodgey affair; but the 138 riders averaged 47km/h in what was a relatively steady and safe race according to many of the riders.

Muddy Affair for Riders at Qinghai Lake Tour - Metlushenko streaks to victory in rain-soaked Opener

Amore & Vita's Yuri Metlushenko powers to the convincing win over Italian Paolo Pier De Negri and Boris Shpilevskiy of Russia. According to Amore & Vita's Team manager, Yuri is one of the world's best sprinters, "We had the team all working hard to keep it together at the end and the team made sure someone was there drop Yuri near the front with 300m to go and he did the rest".
