Shanghai: Specialized Store and Club anniversaries

Welcome to 3rd year Pudong store / Specialized riders Club 1st year anniversary on June 26th! It was HUGE!

Specialized's Managing Director Eric Koh thanks fans for coming

The Specialized Party scene

The event showed off the First Gold Sprint race never organized in Shanghai! What's a Gold Sprint you may ask? (If you did ask that it would be an excellent question . . . ) A Gold Sprint is a 20 second sprint along an imaginary 500-meter course… riders go AS HARD AS THEY POSSIBLY CAN FOR 20 SECONDS (ouch. . . )!

The Specialized Angels show off the 'equipment'

Welcome to Gold Sprint racing, a rising offseason activity that melds a stationary bike trainer with a videogame. Riders pedal hard, and their pedal power is translated directly onto a video screen where their virtual racer flies along!

Faces go beat red, nostrils flare, and rubber literally burns in seconds as riders start up, and spin full bore on aluminum rollers. Each 20-second session provides a great physical test for the rider as well as an entertaining spectacle for bar patrons in the crowd.  FUN!

On-site MC Thomas: Speed up!!

Contestants go ALL OUT. . .

TCR rider Cui YinHao is pretty quick

 White knuckle racing!

All of this was set to the beats of Jazzamar; Park Hyatt resident DJ and music producer extra-ordinaire. Jazzamar is a Producer, composer, sound designer, musician and DJ, who currently rocks the highest bar in the world three nights a week tootling his flute (oh my . . .) and dropping jazz inspired house and disco. He’s played Berlin, Tokyo, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro and now Specialized Shanghai – what better way to Sprint!

 Block, rock and beats!

 Riders look fierce!

Cyclocross winner Tori Widdowson for the Specialized Club this year. Would she also win the Golden Sprint?

Winners for the Golden Sprint Women Group (l-r Tori, Reina, Corrie)

A Specialized event is not a real event without THE ANGELS . . .
