While the weather stayed relatively dry throughout the day, previous days?rain had made the track very slick in many corners, and changed the rock garden section into a small stream. Many riders were observed looking for smoother lines through the rocky sections, though some fell prey to the moss-covered stones during the race. More than one rider was seen being stretchered out of the race track during the event, a testament to the difficulty of the course.

When asked about his opinion about the race, an anonymous rider remarked he 'just hoped to go through today's race without hurting myself. . .'
